2018 was an amazing year! So many good moments captured. It was also a year of extreme growth (both business-wise and skill-wise).
While I've been photographing for over 10 years, I really wanted 2018 to be focused on growth. Growth in the business and growth in my craft. As far as the business, 2018 yielded a brand "new" website (actually, "2" website re-designs), a "new" online gallery system (for delivering images, ordering prints, and creating invoices/accepting payments), and a brand "new" logo/brand. It was a very productive year!
As far as growth in my craft, I focused on the areas of lighting and posing. I spent hours and hours reading books, blogs, attending in-person workshops, online tutorials (paid subscriptions), and youtube. This has paid off tremendously as the images have continued to get stronger and stronger throughout the year.
It doesn't matter whether you are a seasoned professional working 30+ years, there is ALWAYS room for growth. If you aren't growing, then you are standing still and not evolving.
I can already tell that 2019 is going to be an amazing year! My schedule has already been filling up with engagement shoots, weddings, etc. In addition, I've just opened up a brand "new" photography studio. Details (and pictures) will be announced soon!
As I look back on 2018 fondly, I've gone through all of my photoshoots over the year and have chosen a few of my favorite images. Believe me, it was hard to choose (so many favorites)!
FYI: If an image from your photoshoot didn't make it, so sorry! I chose a few favorites from each photoshoot, but the blog limits the number of images. I had at least 20 more I wanted to show!
Fun fact: Apparently, my most popular image from last year was the "owl picture" (see it below). My wife and I posted it online, and the response was tremendous. I've already printed a few large prints of it.
